The Sd.Kfz. 251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) was a German armoured half-track infantry fighting vehicle from World War II, developed by the Hanomag company on the basis of the unarmoured Sd.Kfz. 11 half-track vehicle.
The vehicle was designed to transport armoured infantrymen into battle.
With at least 15252 vehicles and variants produced by seven manufacturers, the Sd.Kfz. 251 became the most produced German half-track vehicle of the war.
The Sd.Kfz. 251/7 version was an armoured engineer vehicle, known as the medium engineer armoured vehicle.
The vehicle had, due to the omission of a bench seat, more storage space for the pioneer equipment and assault bridges on brackets on the sides of the vehicle.
