The Sd.Kfz. 251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) was a German World War II half-track armored personnel carrier developed by the Hanomag company based on the unarmored Sd.Kfz. 11 vehicle was developed.
The vehicle was designed to transport Panzergrenadiers into battle.
The Sd.Kfz. 251s were the most produced German halftracks of the war, with at least 15,252 vehicles and variants produced by seven manufacturers.
The Sd.Kfz. 251/9 - armored personnel carrier (7.5 cm KwK37). Armed with a low-velocity 75mm L/24 gun and the same socketed gun mount as the StuG III.
Nicknamed "Stummel" - In 1944 a revised weapon mount including a coaxial MG42 was introduced to ease production.
