The T-72A version, introduced in 1979, is considered a second generation main battle tank.
From this, the export version T-72M was developed with older TPN-1-49-23 night vision devices.
This version ran from 1981, among others. the GDR, Poland and the CSSR, and was also built under license in both of the latter states as the T-72G.
Since the kit box now contains the early T-72 turret with laser range finder (LEM), a transitional version (Übergangsversion) to the T-72M (T-72ÜV-1), a T-72M or a transitional version to the T-72M1 (T-72ÜV -2) be built out of the box.
