The M247 Sergeant York was an anti-aircraft gun tank developed in the late 1970s as part of the DIVAD (Division Air Defense) program.
A new turret was fitted to the improved hull of the M48 Patton main battle tank, which was fitted with two radar-guided 40mm Boforrs rapid-fire cannons. .
Despite the use of many proven system components, a series of technical problems and massive cost overruns led to the project being canceled in 1985.
