In the 1970s, the Dutch army began looking for a replacement for the AMX-VCI infantry fighting vehicle.
This remained in use until the 2000s.
The YPR-765 was based on the hull of the AIFV infantry fighting vehicle, which was based on the M113 armored personnel carrier.
From 1977 onwards, FMC, together with DAF and Philips, built over 2000 vehicles for the Dutch armed forces.
One of the versions was the YPR-765 PRAT (Pantser Rups Anti Tank) rocket destroyer, which carried the same Emerson TOW twin launcher as the M901 "Hammerhead" (this was based on the M113 chassis)
