Equipped with a long, powerful L/70 7.5cm gun that was superior to those of the Allies, the Jagdpanzer IV /70(V) Lang proved to be a formidable opponent after its introduction towards the end of World War II.
The "Lang" in its name was added to distinguish it from its predecessor with the shorter 7.5cm L/48 gun.
The design with the wedge-shaped glacis plate and use of the Panzer IV chassis was carried over from the L/48 variant.
930 Jadgpanzer IV /70(V) Lang were produced between August 1944 and March 1945 and proved their worth on the front lines, such as in the Ardennes from December 1944, where their exceptional range and power put Allied forces under pressure until the very end.
