Originally called the Hornisse, the Panzerjäger Nashorn was a German tank destroyer of the Second World War.
It was developed in 1942 as an interim solution by fitting a light, turretless chassis based on the Panzer III and Panzer IV with the 88cm Pak 43 anti-tank gun.
Although this was only lightly armoured and had a high profile, it could penetrate the frontal armour of all Allied tanks at long range.
