In the 1950s, the Israel Armored Forces were equipped with outdated M50 and M51 Sherman and AMX-13 light tanks, but lacked modern main battle tanks. At Israel's request, Britain ended up providing around 390 used Centurion Mk. III and MK. V delivered. However, they were quickly adapted to local conditions and given the title "Sho't" (Eng. "Whip").
The Sho't Meteor is a Centurion with the original Rolls-Royce Meteor petrol engine.
The Centurion Sho't served in the 1967 Six Day War and 1973 in the Yom Kippur War
