The 40mm SPG M42 nicknamed "Duster" was built for the US Army from 1952 to December 1960 and saw service until 1988.
The vehicle used components from the M41 light tank and was made entirely of welded steel.
Beginning in the fall of 1966, the US Army deployed three Duster battalions to South Vietnam.
Each battalion consisting of a headquarters battery and four M42 batteries.
