Super Pershing was the result of an effort to improve the Pershing's firepower by installing the new T15E1 90mm gun in T26E1,number 1. This weapon had a much higher muzzle than the standard 90mm gun M3 , and was comparable in performance to the German 8.8cm KwK 43 mounted in the King Tiger. With its new armament, the tank was redesignated as the T26E4,but retained its old registration number, 30103292. After proof firing at Aberdeen , the tank was shipped to Europe and delivered to the 3 rd Armored Division's maintenance battalion on March 15 1945.
