Production began on October 13, 1962.
The M60A1 battle tank was developed in 1963 by the U.S. Armed Forces and served until 1991.
In the 1970s it was the standard main battle tank of the U.S. Army.
M60 tanks were exported to 26 other nations and are still used by many countries today.
