The M4 Sherman medium tank was the main tank of the United States during the Second World War. It was mass produced and formed the backbone of the United States' armoured forces at the time. Several versions were produced.

The Sherman Firefly was a tank used by the British Army and other Commonwealth units. It was based on the M4 or M4A4 Sherman, but was fitted with the more powerful British 17-pounder 3-inch (76.2 mm) calibre gun as its main armament. This made it equal in firepower to most German tanks.
