"Queen of the Desert"
Developed as a heavily armored infantry tank, the Matilda was the main battle tank for the British Army in North Africa during World War II.
She was superior to the Italian vehicles and was respectfully nicknamed "Queen of the Desert" by the German forces.
During "Operation Battleaxe" to break out of the Siege of Tobruk in June 1941, German forces used their 8.8cm anti-aircraft guns in the anti-tank role as they were the only effective countermeasure against Matildas.
The Matilda has consistently proven itself in many bitter battles across North Africa.
