The Sexton self-propelled howitzer was built in Canada by the Montreal Locomotive Works and was equipped with the powerful British 25 pounder howitzer.
The Sexton appeared in 1943 and replaced the US-built M7 Priest, which was equipped with a 105 mm cannon.
The Sexton II weighed 25.86 tons and was first used in Italy by the 8th Army and also saw service in France and Western Europe.
It was operated by a crew of six.
