The US medium tank M26 Pershing was put into service towards the end of the Second World War to give the US Army the possibility to counter the German tanks with an equal opponent.
The Pershing was equipped with a long 90mm gun and had good mobility.
It was first used in February 1945 on the Western Front in the assault on Germany.
When the Korean War began in June 1950, the M26 also fought successfully against the Soviet-built T34/85 tanks of the North Korean and Chinese troops.
