During the Second World War, the Italian army used the M13/40 as a battle tank.
It had a riveted construction and wheels with leaf spring suspension, as well as a 47mm cannon on Italy's first hydraulically operated turret.
In addition, the M13/40 was powered by a liquid-cooled V8 diesel engine with 125 hp, which reached a top speed of 30 km/h.
About 800 were produced from July 1940 to 1943. They fought mainly alongside the German Afrika Korps in North Africa.
