The Goliath was developed during the Second World War for the German armed forces as a remote-controlled explosive charge carrier.
The first variant, Sd.Kfz.302, was only 160cm long, powered by two 12-volt battery motors and could carry 60kg of explosives; control and ignition was via a cable fitted to the rear.
Some 2,650 were produced between April 1942 and January 1944, most of which were used by assault engineers.
They were mainly used to attack fortified enemy positions and for mine clearing.
