The Hotchkiss was a French tank from the late 1930s. It was equipped with a 3.7 cm L/33 cannon and its engine produced 120 hp (88.3 kW). During the French campaign, many of these tanks were captured undamaged, modified and taken over into the Wehrmacht. 24 of these tanks were given a new design and were used as command/observation vehicles with the 155th Panzer Artillery Regiment of the 21st Panzer Division in Normandy.
