The KV-2 was a heavy tank armed with a 152mm M-10 howitzer. It was produced at the same time as the KV-1. Due to the size and weight of the turret and howitzer, it was significantly slower and easier to spot than a KV-1. Also, the turret could only be swiveled on level ground. This and its low speed made it relatively ineffective in mobile combat.
Captured KV-2 were partly rebuilt and designated by the Wehrmacht as (Sturm)Panzerkampfwagen KW-II 754(r). An example is the (Sturm-)Panzerkampfwagen KV-II 754(r) of Panzerkompanie (z.b.v.) 66, which has the commander's cupola of a Panzerkampfwagen III G/IV EE and storage compartments for the 152 mm ammunition at the rear of the hull.
