This powerful heavy anti-tank gun differed only in details from the 8.8 cm KwK 43 of the King Tiger. The Jagdpanther also had excellent armor protection.
The protection provided by the 80 mm thick, sloped front armor was better than that of the Tiger I.
The 50 mm thick, sloped armor on the sides was also some of the best armor of World War II.
The production of the Jagdpanther lasted a year and a half and only about 400 examples left the production line during the Allied air raids.
