The Panzerkampfwagen IV (PzKpfw IV) was the most widely produced German battle tank during World War II.
It was originally designed as a medium infantry support tank to be used in conjunction with the Pzkpfw III.
Later in the war it became more heavily armed and armored and took on the role of main battle tank.
The Panzer IV served as the basis for many other combat vehicles, such as tank destroyers and anti-aircraft tanks.
Only 138 Ausführung C were produced between 1938 and 1939.
