From July 1942, the "F2" version of the Panzer IV was produced and renamed "G" from September 1942.
About 1700 units of this version left the production facilities until spring 1943.
A double muzzle brake replaced the spherical one used until then.
Some of the vehicles were delivered with side skirts.
These were 5 mm thick plates which were removable from the hull and fixed to the turret and protected against tank shells.
