
The project consisted of a series of designs for a super-heavy tank, which were developed by Krupp from 1941 to 1942.
Development was discontinued in favor of even heavier tanks such as the Maus.
The official project name was VK 70.01 or Panzerkampfwagen Löwe, although the names Panzerkampfwagen VII and VK 72.01 appear inconsistently in various documents. However, these were never officially confirmed.
