1347 examples were built between August 1942 and August 1944.
After August 1944, production of the Tiger I was discontinued in favor of the Tiger II.
The Tiger I tank produced from the second half of 1943 was based on the version used in North Africa and Russia.
At the beginning had been used roadwheels with rubber rims, which in subsequent productions from February 1944 were replaced by steel rollers.
An anti-magnetic paste against limpet mines, which was to become standard on all German Army tanks, was also applied to the tanks produced from August 1943.
This was known as Zimmerit.
