The Ben Hur was the 1 ton load trailer of the U.S. armed forces in World War 2. It can be found in the delivery catalog for US military vehicles under the number G-518. It was produced by almost 30 different companies. The main producer was the Ben Hur Mfg. Co. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which gave the trailer its nickname. It was available in different variants designed for generators, ammunition or water tanks. In its basic configuration, it was a load trailer with a tailgate. It was used both open and with bows (and also with a tarpaulin over it). Trucks from the ¾ ton class upwards were often used as towing vehicles, such as the Dodge WC series, the Chevrolet C-506 series and the workhorse of U.S. Army logistics, the 2 ½ ton GMC CCKW. Nearly 260,000 of these trailers were produced.

The PE-95 generator was powered by a Willis engine and supplied 10 kW at 120/240 volts, e.g. for a radio system. It was often installed in a K-52 trailer.
