The M3 Bradley Cavalry Fighting Vehicle (CFV) is closely related to the more common M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV). The differences between the M2 and M3 are subtle.
For example, it has more TOW replacement missiles and other munitions.
Their role is also quite different: Armored cavalry units use them for scouting and reconnaissance duties.
The M3A3 Bradley uses improved information and communications equipment, a central processing unit and information displays for the vehicle commander and squad leader.
The M3A3 is compatible with the vehicle communications system of the M1A2 Abrams and the AH-64D Apache Longbow. The commander has an independent thermal imaging device and a new integrated sighting unit called the Improved Bradley Acquisition System (IBAS), which allows automatic weapon adjustments, automatic aiming and tracking of dual targets. The roof is reinforced with titanium armor.
