With the rapid advances of blitzkrieg tactics, vehicles were needed
to transport the German military leaders and generals from place to place as their army advanced.
One such vehicle was a 4-door version of the Austrian light truck Steyr 1500A/01, the
which was powered by an 85 hp 8-cylinder engine and had good off-road characteristics.
Since it was a commander's vehicle, among other things, a more spacious 5-person cabin was installed instead
installed opposite the 8-person cabin of the truck.
The cabin also featured leather seats.
High-ranking German commanders on all fronts used them as their personal vehicles.
