Set of two-axle platforms (short 6.6 m and long 9.2 m) for armored trains (with rail and anti-aircraft elements).
Two-axle platforms were used before the war for various types of cargo up to 20 tons.
In wartime, they were used as control platforms, placed in front and behind armored trains (sometimes there were several of them). Their purpose was to protect armored cars and locomotives from mines. Mines and explosive charges were triggered when they were passed over by a control platform heavily loaded with sandbags and rails, while the armored train itself remained undamaged. Sometimes, to strengthen the anti-aircraft defense of an armored train, on the initiative of the crews, heavy machine guns (for example, DShK) were installed in armored casemates on some control platforms.
The platform was a metal-wooden case mounted on two sprung axles. The platform floor was installed on the case frame. Hinged sides were installed on 4 sides of the case. Depending on the purpose of the platform, the floor and sides could be made of either wood or metal.
The platforms were equipped with couplings and pneumatic braking systems.
