The M1 Abrams is a third generation American main battle tank.
It was named after General Creighton Abrams.
Since its commissioning in the early 1980s, it has been repeatedly modernized and adapted to the realities of modern warfare.
In addition to the 120mm smoothbore cannon, it has an excellent fire control system, with laser range finder and an impressive gas turbine engine.
Equipped with its precise fire control system and a 1,500 hp gas turbine engine, the M1A1 was more than a match for enemy T-72 tanks when deployed in the 1991 Gulf War.
