This armored command vehicle was developed on the basis of the Panzer I Ausf. B.
In order to increase the space for the commander and his staff, the turret with the main armament was removed and a high fixed superstructure was installed.
The battle maps and radio equipment could be stored in the interior.
An additional radio antenna could be used on the fuselage to increase the range of radio communication.
The “Panzerbefehlswagen”, manufactured from the second half of the 1930s, was first used in the Spanish Civil War.
At the beginning of the Second World War it was already considered obsolete and some were converted into ambulances.
