Since the beginning of the rearmament of the German army in the early 1930s, the advantages of motorized vehicles were known and every effort was made to provide the right vehicles for modern warfare.
In the mid-thirties, the Mercedes-Benz company developed the three-axle (6x4) off-road truck LG 3000.
It was the further development of the Mercedes model G 3 from 1928.
Instead of the competitors with petrol engines, the LG 3000 type was equipped with a diesel engine.
The truck was mainly supplied to the Luftwaffe and the engineer troops.
Its career began in the Spanish Civil War.
