The Junkers Ju-87 dive bomber is certainly one of the most famous aircraft of World War II.
The characteristic “bent-wing” aircraft gained great popularity at the beginning of the war and is considered a defining symbol of the Blitzkrieg alongside the Wehrmacht’s tank divisions.
During the war, new versions with different operational profiles were introduced.
The Ju-87G was developed as an “anti-tank” version of the Stuka to counter the large number of enemy armored vehicles deployed on the Eastern Front in 1943.
Flak 18 cannons were mounted in underwing nacelles to better deal with this evolving threat.
With this configuration, the Ju-87G "Kanonenvogel" proved to be extremely effective in the hands of experienced pilots.
