The Dassault Mirage III is a family of single-engine combat aircraft designed and manufactured by the French aircraft manufacturer Dassault.
It was the first Western European combat aircraft to exceed Mach 2 in level flight.
The Mirage IIIE differed significantly from the Mirage IIIC.
The airframe was fitted with a 300 mm long forward fuselage extension, which was designed to enlarge the avionics bay directly behind the cockpit.
