The innovative Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey project was launched in the 1980s, but only after a long and complex development process that lasted over twenty years, it entered production and was used in various branches of the US armed forces.
The Osprey is a vertical take-off aircraft equipped with two tilting engines mounted with large three-bladed propellers, allowing it to land and take off vertically like a helicopter and also have flight and transfer capabilities similar to those of a traditional propeller-driven aircraft.
Thanks to its two powerful 6150 hp Rolls-Royce T406-AD-400 engines, it can reach a speed of over 500 km/h in horizontal flight.
The United States Marine Corps is the primary user of the aircraft, particularly leveraging its tactical versatility and the V-22's transport capability for operational support.
