The Flettner Fl 282 Kolibri was a German single-seat open-cockpit helicopter with two intermeshing contra-rotating rotors. Its designer was helicopter pioneer Anton Flettner.
The Kolibri was one of the first helicopters.
During World War II, Nazi Germany tested the type in the Mediterranean theater.
Plans to build thousands of Kolibris were abandoned when the Allies bombed Flettner's factories.
Only three Fl 282s survived the war; the rest were destroyed to avoid falling into enemy hands.
