H-class battleships of the German Kriegsmarine were begun in 1939 and would have become the longest and second heaviest battleships in the world at the time. As a further development of the Bismarck class, they should attack convoy escorts with a longer range on the oceans. In 1939, two of the six planned ships were laid down, but work on them was halted when the war began.
