The Marder infantry fighting vehicle was intended to be an equivalent counterpart to the Leopard 1 in the newly created German army. Over the years, several generations of the Marder were created, and it was also repeatedly upgraded in combat effectiveness. It was used in practice during KFOR missions and also in Afghanistan and now also in Ukraine.
