The Sd.Kfz.250 was a lightly armored half-track vehicle that did not enter service until mid-1941 due to production delays.
Designed by Demag and based on the D7 chassis, the original half-track's complex angled plate design was significantly simplified in October 1943 to ease production.
Because the original 19 armor plates were reduced to just nine, the resulting design is often referred to as the Sd.Kfz.250 NEU.
Production of almost 2,400 vehicles continued until July 1944.
The basic version had two MG34 machine guns.
