The Type 89 armored personnel carrier of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Forces (JGSDF) entered service in 1989. In addition to its 3-man crew, it can carry a rifle squad that can fight mounted and dismounted. The 2-man turret has a 35 mm machine cannon, an axis-parallel 7.62 mm MG and two anti-tank guided missiles on the outside of the turret. With the 600hp it reaches a top speed of approx. 70 km/h.
