The Bedford MW was a rear-wheel drive light truck of the British Armed Forces with a payload of 760 kg (15 cwt). The 72 hp (54 kW) engine was able to accelerate the vehicle up to 64 km/h. The over 66,000 Bedford MWs produced were in use from 1939 to the 1950s, mainly by British infantry units, but also by the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy. There were a number of variants that were differentiated by an additional letter in the name. For example, B. the MWD has a flatbed body and the MWC has a water tank body. The Germans also used many MW that they had captured during the French campaign and especially in Dunkirk and did not just repaint and remark them, but also gave some vehicles a new body so that the vehicles became personal transporters.
