The British Army's most widely used ACV was the AEC in the 4x4 all-wheel drive version.
The vehicle based on the AEC Matador truck went into production in 1941.
A total of around 415 vehicles were built.
The vehicle was first used in the North African theater of war and remained in use until the end of the war.
Because it was large and comfortable, it was nicknamed Dorchester, after a luxury hotel in London.
