The Sd.Ah.52 was a small, lightweight multi-purpose trailer with a U-frame, typically used as a transport vehicle for four 2cm Flak 38 anti-aircraft guns.
It was also suitable for transporting 3.7cm Flak 36 or Flak 37 and Flak 38 anti-aircraft guns.
Specially designed loading boxes with partitions and valves on the superstructure could carry 1700 kg of ammunition.
However, on half-track vehicles with a larger load, such as the Sd.Kfz. 7, the anti-aircraft gun could be loaded directly onto the vehicle, which then pulled an Sd.Ah. 52 ammunition trailer.
