The prototype was made in 1936 and differed from the serial BT-5 by the absence of a 45 mm gun, its ammunition and radio station.
A flamethrower gun/hose and a DT coaxial machine gun were installed in the turret.
The KS-34 flamethrower equipment manufactured by the “Compressor” plant included tanks for 1000 liters, a pump with a drive, pipelines, a 30-liter air cylinder, a hose and instrumentation.
The hose nozzle, at the same time being an ignition device, was enclosed in a special metal casing.
The installed equipment allowed flamethrowing at a range of up to 70 meters.
The manufactured prototype tank was rejected during the test by the representatives of the army for a number of significant reasons.
It was not serially produced.
