From 1939 onwards, the Opel Blitz was used in large numbers by the German Wehrmacht throughout the Second World War.
From 1944 until the end of the war, approximately 2500 Opel Blitz with Einheits driver's cab were built at the Daimler-Benz factory in Mannheim, while production of the company's own Mercedes-Benz L3000 was discontinued.
