The Type 4 Shippuu (Ki-84) fighter aircraft is a fighter aircraft manufactured by Nakajima, a renowned company that manufactured the Army's main combat aircraft 97 Sen (Ki-27), Hayabusa (Ki-43) and Shoki (Ki-44). It was equipped with a 2000 horsepower Ha-45 engine and had excellent speed and maneuverability, as well as powerful armament and bullet resistance. When it was decided to adopt the standard in late March 1945, it was produced under the name "Greater East Asia Battle Machine" and fought hard in the defense of mainland China, the Philippines, Okinawa and the mainland. In mainland China in particular, the aircraft was comparable to aircraft such as the P-51 and was so successful that it temporarily regained air superiority. However, after mass production began, problems arose due to poor material and workmanship quality, resulting in poor engine performance. However, despite these adverse conditions, around 3,500 aircraft were produced, the same number as the Zero Fighter and the Hayabusa. After the war, the Shippu was tested in the United States and praised as "the finest Japanese fighter used in the Pacific War."
