The company Border Model is located in Wuxi City (China). The high quality with which this company manufactures modeling tools but also detailed model kits has been particularly appreciated for years in modeling circles.
A fan of history from an early age
Even as a child, founder and owner Liu Hong used to watch books or documentaries about history as there was a lot to learn. During his school years he began to enjoy model making. His first kit was the 1/350 Sovremenny-class destroyer that he bought when he was in junior high school. But he was also fascinated by computer games like WoW, WoT and LoL.
After finishing school Liu Hong worked in various companies but no job could keep him for long. So it made sense to start his own company.
From modeling tools to the first self-produced kit
In 2015 he founded Border Model but initially limited itself to the production of modeling tools in a good price-performance ratio.
Sales went so well that the entire savings could be invested in the first own injection molded model kit in 2018. This was the BT-001 Panzer IV Ausf.G Late.
Expansion because sales are going really well
In the meantime, the company has 45 employees, who work on about 3000m2 in the production hall with special injection molding machines or CNC milling machines.
The office employees take care of tasks such as development, research and marketing in the background.
In 2021 Border Model built its own mold factory so that they can independently produce their own molds.
Occasionally owner Liu Hong still devotes himself to model building. He then lends a hand himself in test-building his own models before they go into production.
Border Model stands for good products with high quality
Their products are designed to be inexpensive but still of high quality and to be built as easy as possible.
In the future, this company will continue to provide modelers with unique products that have consistently good quality and attention to detail.
More than 100 products are available on the market now under the name Border Model and becoming increasingly popular. Limited editions are also eagerly awaited. This manufacturer plans new releases in this range every year.
Where does the company name come from?
The actual name of the company, "Wuxi Seydlitz Trading Co., Ltd.", comes from the legendary participant in the Battle of Skagerrak, the warship SMS Seydlitz.
The name Border Model in turn came about because owner Liu Hong's dog is a border collie.
