Hauptsturmführer Michael Wittmann was one of the tank aces of World War II, with recognized kills of 138 tanks and 132 anti-tank guns. He began his career on the Eastern Front with a StuG.III, later taking command of a Tiger I during Operation Citadel near Kursk in July 1943
